Card Making to Celebrate Douglass Day!

  • 23 W Maple St Lombard, IL 60148 (map)

Join LHS as we celebrate Douglass Day on Valentine’s Day, Saturday, 2/14 from 12-4 pm, at the Sheldon Peck Homestead.

Frederick Douglass was a powerful writer, speaker, and leader who was a freedom seeker and spent his life fighting for education, equal rights, and justice.  Douglass chose February 14 as his birthday because, like many people born into slavery, he did not know his birth date as a child.

You are invited to take part in our Hearts of Kindness. A family friendly event where we will decorate Valentine hearts by adding kind words or drawings—like love, bravery, freedom, and kindness—values Frederick Douglass believed could change the world.

Together, these hearts will become a community reminder that love and justice belong together. 💜

We hope you’ll join us! This drop-in program is free and no registration is required.
