HISTORIC HOUSE BIKE TOUR OF LOMBARD

Join LHS and Retro Glow Cycles for a guided tour of select historic homes (outside only) that are recognized for their age (over one hundred years old), architectural integrity and / or prominent historic residents. Little known facts and photos about the houses have been gleaned from the LHS archives to share with participants.

The one-hour rides will include some well-known houses and some surprises that are more off-the-beaten-path, including houses that have hosted three-generation families to a commercial establishment with a feature unique to all the region. A QR code will link participants to a google map with added facts about past residents as well as pictures of many of the homes designed to enrich the experience.

Riders will meet at the LHS Carriage House at 23 West Maple Street in Lombard for one of three rides starting at 10 AM, 12 Noon or 2 PM. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in. Ride marshals will accompany the riders for safety. Ages seven and up are welcome.

About the Organizer
Retro Glow Cycles enjoys working with the community to promote the art and history of cycling. Working with LHS, they celebrated their 50th anniversary with interactive exhibits and helped create the LHS pop-up exhibit “The Ever-Changing Bicycle & Its Allure.”  During the winter of 2023, Retro Glow Cycles will be restoring some of Jack Minster’s parade bikes. The goal is to bring these cycling works of art back to life to ride in the Lilac Parade once again.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for children, and include a groovy purple water bottle. Free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Lombard Historical Society at 23 West Maple Street in Lombard, Illinois.
