McDowell Grove Forest Preserve was home to a Civilian Conservation Corps camp during the Great Depression. During World War II it was used as a signal corps school for instruction in the science of radar technology. More recent research has also uncovered proof that the preserve also housed a communications school for the Office of Strategic Services, America’s World War II spy agency and precursor to the Central Intelligence Agency. Discover this preserve’s intriguing history through this program featuring historic photographs and documents. Presented by Chris Gingrich, Manager of Visitor Services and Experiences at Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Free event, please RSVP.
